Overview
The Lunar Glow Event was a limited-time event in Grow a Garden that focused on nighttime gardening and celestial themes. It introduced new gameplay features, special rewards, and a unique NPC — the Wise Old Owl — who guided players through the event’s moonlit challenges. Players were asked to collect Moonlit and later Bloodlit plants to earn event currency and unlock milestone rewards. Because of community feedback after Update 1.07.0, the event was extended by one week before officially ending on May 31st, 2025.
Event Mechanics
🌙 Lunar Points
During the event, players could harvest Moonlit plants and trade them to the Wise Old Owl for Lunar Points. The number of points earned depended on the plant’s tier and whether it carried specific mutations.
Lunar Points were used to complete milestone tracks, granting unique rewards after each stage. After finishing the final milestone, players could reset their progress for 500 Lunar Points or 500,000,000 coins (previously 1,000,000,000 coins).

🌌 Night Cycle
Every in-game hour, a Night Event took place for about 10 minutes. During this time, crops could gain the Moonlit Mutation, giving them a glowing, ethereal appearance.
The Meteor Shower feature — added in Update 1.06.0 — could also occur during the night. Crops struck by meteors were given the rare Celestial Mutation, making them especially valuable.
🩸 Blood Moon Cycle
The Blood Moon variant was added in Update 1.06.0, with roughly a 1 in 3 chance to replace a regular night cycle. When active, it transformed the environment into a dark red glow and introduced the Bloodlit Mutation. Bloodlit plants were worth extra Lunar Points when exchanged with the Wise Old Owl, making Blood Moons one of the most rewarding times to harvest.
Trivia
- Players managed to bring the event back after it was unexpectedly removed on May 24, 2025, during Update 1.07.0. It returned only hours later in Update 1.07.1, marking the first time an event was ever reintroduced due to community feedback.
- With a total runtime of about three weeks, it shared the record for the longest event in Grow a Garden, tied with the Bizzy Bees Event.
- The Wise Old Owl, the event’s main NPC, is considered male, based on in-game dialogue and design hints.
- It was the third event ever added to Grow a Garden, introducing several new systems and currencies.
- Lunar Points were the first special event currency added to the game, changing how milestone rewards worked in later updates.
- Right before the Bizzy Bees Update, developer Jandel joked that the Wise Old Owl would end up “grilled,” leading to the limited Grilled Moon Owl cosmetic being handed out just before the update went live.
- After the Lunar Glow period ended, the Night cycle stayed in the game but was changed to appear every four hours instead of once per hour.
- This was also the first event to include more than one shop, a format later reused for the Fairy Event and Fall Market Event.
