Overview
The Beanstalk Event, added in Version 1.19.0, was a limited-time community event in Grow a Garden. It allowed players of any level to work together toward growing a massive beanstalk while earning unique rewards for their personal contributions.
Event Mechanics
Growing the Beanstalk
Players could grow the enormous Beanstalk Tree by turning in plants to the NPC Jack. Each plant donated added growth points to the global tree progress.
Next to Jack, a leaderboard displayed how much each player had contributed, encouraging friendly competition — with the top contributor earning an exclusive bonus reward once the beanstalk was complete.
Contribution Bonuses
Plants with special mutations provided extra growth points:
🥈 Silver Mutation → +1 point 🥇 Gold Mutation → +2 points 🌈 Rainbow Mutation → +3 points
This system made rare crops especially valuable during the event.
Event Cycle
Once the Beanstalk reached its full height, it remained active for 20 minutes before beginning to wilt and decay. Players needed to climb and collect their rewards before it disappeared.
If someone tried to trigger a new Beanstalk too soon — within 15 minutes of the previous one — the game displayed: “⚠️ [Player’s Username] recently grew a beanstalk! Please wait [minutes, seconds].”
Golden Beanstalk Variant
Introduced in the 1.20.0 Update, a rare Golden Beanstalk could appear instead of the regular version. This variant featured hollowed leaves, tougher climbs, and enhanced orb rewards, making it one of the most exciting challenges of the event.
Crafting
During the Beanstalk Event, players could use materials earned from the beanstalk to craft exclusive items, decorations, and seeds. Most recipes required Beanstalks, which acted as the event’s core crafting ingredient.
Below is a list of all craftable items from this event:

Trivia
- The Beanstalk Event was the second event in Grow a Garden to focus on a specific plant — the Beanstalk itself. The first plant-centered event was the Angry Plant Event, which featured the Venus Fly Trap as its main crop.
- Originally, the Beanstalk Event was planned to release before the Cooking Event, but it lost a community poll, pushing its release to a later update.
- The event’s NPCs and theme take heavy inspiration from the fairytale “Jack and the Beanstalk.” Both Jack, the Golden Goose, and the Goliath NPC directly reference characters or elements from that story.
- The Goliath NPC can be found on the highest floating island, a clear nod to the giant’s castle in the clouds from the classic tale.
- Cloud Island, the area where the Goliath appears, was also designed to resemble the fairytale’s cloud kingdom.
- Occasionally, the Beanstalk could wither or decay immediately after being fully grown. This is believed to be an unintended bug rather than a mechanic.
- There’s a rare chance roughly 10% for the Beanstalk to appear as a Golden Growth Variant, offering better orb rewards and a unique visual style.
- In Update 1.20.1, the Mandrake item was quietly removed from Goliath’s Goods, surprising players who were farming it.
- At the time of release, this event featured the tallest point in the game, located at the top of the castle’s flagpole above the clouds.
